FORECAST – SNOW ON THURSDAY!
A popular saying we have in Big Bear is if you don’t like the weather, wait an hour… My go to place for updated weather in Big Bear is https://www.bensweather.com/, here is his weather report for this week through Christmas.
Enjoying a gorgeous weekend out there with near-normal temperatures and dry weather, that will change later this week as a new series of storms takes aim at the west coast. Expect sunny skies through Sunday with highs in the upper 40’s to around 50-degrees, southwest winds around 5-10mph. Little change to our weather Monday into Tuesday as highs remain in the 40’s with overnight lows in the teens and 20’s, locally breezy during the afternoons. Our first storm in this next series is forecast to arrive on Wednesday with rain and snow showers developing, continuing off and on through the Christmas Holiday weekend. The rain and snow could be heavy at times as the snow level fluctuates around atmospheric river moisture and colder air. The potential is there for some decent rainfall amounts and hefty snowfall totals next weekend. Longer range models are signaling the cold and unsettled weather will stay with us well into the New Year, a couple of runs are absurdly wet, forecasting over a foot of rain in the next month. There’s still a lot of uncertainty next week on exact timing, intensity, and snow levels. Be sure to check back often for updates and enjoy our last official fall weekend! If travel plans bring you into the mountains during the winter months, come prepared, be extra careful on the roads, and always carry tire chains!
Housing Inventory Shortage
The housing market in Big Bear Valley continues to be low with only 61 homes on the market. Prices are holding steady, and if priced right, getting multiple offers. Big Bear Lake and Moonridge areas are in high demand at all times and especially this time of year. It will cost more to purchase in those areas. Other areas in Big Bear Valley are Big Bear City, Sugarloaf, Erwin Lake, Baldwin Lake, Lake Williams and Fawnskin. These Cities and Sub-Cities are San Bernardino County and not City of Big Bear Lake but all located at the top of our mountain only 15-20 minutes from the Village, Slopes and Lake. There is still time to get your mountain home before the holidays. If you are considering selling, contact me. https://bigbearbecki.com/property-listings/

New Laws, Fines for Snow PlayMultiple agencies with jurisdiction over the county mountains held a press conference this week to discuss mountain snow play for tourists and motorists who may visit the San Bernardino Mountains over the holidays.

Information for laws and new parking fines was presented with messaging and tips to make motorists trip to the mountain areas enjoyable and safe. Read more
